Learn How to Check Oil Level In a Car

  • Pull out the dipstick and wipe off any residual oil.
  • Fully re-insert the dipstick, then slowly pull it back out and check to see where the level is.
  • If the oil level is between the ‘minimum’ and ‘maximum’ markers, things are good. If it has fallen below the lower marking, you need a top up.

Should you need more oil, make sure you buy the grade recommended in your owner’s manual. Once you have it, remove the oil filler cap and add new oil slowly. Keep rechecking with your dipstick until you’ve reached the recommended level.
